  The Problem

  IDS manages real estate projects, properties, store fronts and location scouting for owners of all sizes, including globally recognizable brands. With each client having their own process, a lot of day-to-day work was being done manually via spreadsheets, emails, etc. The human "cost" was killing productivity as well as profits. IDS was looking for a better way to manage their internal workflows.

  The Solution

  Netlandish reviewed the processes and worked with IDS to identify all requirements, pain points, and edge cases. We developed a system that allows both IDS and their clients staff to work in a controlled, stream lined, application that maintains workflow, status, updates, approvals, demographic data, etc. The end result was less time in spreadsheets, less human errors, and a more productive team.

  The Problem

  The Scripps Research Institute is a research laboratory that focuses on biomedical sciences. They also had an open source gene portal system named BioGPS. Unfortunately it had fallen behind current technology trends and toolset improvements and also not receiving regular maintenance and bug fixing.

  The Solution

  Netlandish was asked to bring the platform up to date and resolve a large list of bugs reported by the research community. This involved upgrading the platform through several Django versions, updating database schemas, bringing frontend frame works current, and more. In the end the platform was more stable, less buggy, and much more responsive. The global gene research community was overjoyed!

  The Problem

  The National Association of Realtors consumer facing website HouseLogic.com needed to adapt to provide a better experience for their increasing number of visitors using mobile devices. However, the mobile experience and business goals do not match up one-to-one with the desktop (normal) experience. The mobile friendly version needed to be robust and fit into the global strategic vision for HouseLogic.com.

  The Solution

  We worked with NAR and their visual design vendor to hash out designs and technical feasibility for the various requirements. Because the mobile experience had different technical requirements and functionality, we built a custom mobile detection backend to integrate the two website versions into one functional code base and domain. Mixing new mobile-only features into the existing functionality was challenging but proved to be worthwhile. The end result is a beautiful mobile experience without duplicating code that powers features for both versions, regardless of how different they may be. Mobile engagements are up across the board on HouseLogic.com. We’re proud to have played a role in their success!

  The Problem

  The National Geographic Channel had a rush project related to the backend that powers their Locked Up Abroad iPad application. They needed to have their backend and data converted, rewritten, and re-deployed to adjust to changes in the upcoming season of the Locked Up Abroad television show. The timing was very tight and there was no room for error.

  The Solution

  Netlandish reviewed the existing code and data structure before formulating a plan to complete the re-deployment and data conversion. We wrote the code to convert the data into the new format and also new deployment code that pushes the new data structure into the “cloud.” We also worked with their IT vendors to setup and deploy a new Django admin interface to manage the data that powers the iPad app. Thanks to collaboration of all the teams involved, we were able to not only meet the deadline, but exceed it. The Locked Up Abroad iPad app delivers a video experience to hundreds of thousands of viewers around the world.

  The Problem

  Washington University had the idea to build a mobile application that would help disabled people around the world get around more conveniently. The app is named Terrain Tracker and has the goal to rate businesses and travel paths based on their accessibility for the handicapped. They needed a powerful backend that can power their API and work with various mobile applications as well as a web based front end. They also needed a team that was agile and well versed in working with a larger team comprised of many different vendors.

  The Solution

  Netlandish worked with Washington U’s mobile app and design vendors to design the overview of how the API will work. We then designed and built the backend infrastructure based on FreeBSD, PostgreSQL (w/ Postgis), Python and GeoDjango. The API powers the entire experience and supports various functions that the app needs. From user accounts and image submissions to reviews (both end user and specific certified CHEC reports) and geo location support, we worked directly with all teams to get this app ready for it’s unveiling at a major conference in San Diego. The app was met with rave review and continues to be under active development and improvement.

• Bicycle Transportation Alliance

  The Problem

  The Bicycle Transportation Alliance is a non-profit membership organization working to promote bicycling and improve bicycling conditions in Oregon. Every year they run a “challenge” that let’s individuals, teams, and organizations compete with each other by seeing how many miles they can rack up biking or walking to work or school. They were in search for a new partner that can help them take their tracking and management system to the next level.

  The Solution

  We took their existing application and gave it some much needed TLC. We also worked with the BTA to build out a whole list of new features and requirements. We also reviewed the existing application and recommended, and completed, updates for both performance and security reasons. Some of the new features implemented were custom reporting, syncing to the “cloud” (Amazon S3), and integration with Salesforce.com.

  The Problem

  Real Pie Media is digital creative agency based in Los Angeles, CA. Their client Fox Searchlight was in need of a new website and Real Pie was tackling it for them. Real Pie decided they’d like to have a custom built CMS to manage this new site and all the expected integrations and they wanted it built with Python / Django.

  The Solution

  Netlandish took on the task to build out the original version of the CMS to power the website FoxSearchlight.com. We worked with the Real Pie creatives to integrate the design and features. We built the Django admin to specifications and editorial requirements provided by Real Pie and Fox Searchlight. We also built the system to catalog and display each film in the Fox Searchlight archive. The end result is a highly functional, organized and editorially controlled system that manages the entire Fox Searchlight digital experience.
